Jessye Wasmund is the City Editor of The Journal-Register, in Medina, N.Y. The paper has a circulation of about 2,500, and covers a majority of Orleans County. The Village of Medina was incorporated in 1832, separating itself from the towns of Ridgeway and Shelby, in which the municipality resides.

Wasmund is a 2007 graduate of the state University at Fredonia, where she was an active member of the college’s paper, The Leader. There, she worked her way up through the ranks, beginning as a sports reporter and graduating as managing editor. Additionally, she was selected as one of only 30 student journalists from across the country to participate in a three-day conference hosted by the United Nations in September 2006. An outdoor enthusiast, Wasmund was delighted to relocate closer to Buffalo after spending a year in the Southern Tier, at The Post-Journal in Jamestown.

This particular blog does not have a set theme. Instead, it is an opportunity for the community to get to know its editor better. While some posts may relate to goings-on in Medina, others are regarding things happening in Wasmund’s life. Comments and feedback are always welcomed.
